The
historic town centre of Alì is divided into two sides of
different date, the older of presumed Arab origin, the newer one
going back to the late-1500s.
The
Chiesa Madre dedicated to St. Agatha is the main and most attractive
religious building. Its imposing interior has a basilical plan with
monolithic columns and a transept with cupola. It is ornamented
with several works of art such as a wooden choirstall graced by
panels depicting scenes from St. Agatha’s life.
